The WTS team is comprised of up individuals with vast experience in the fitness, activities/recreation and spa consulting, design, pre-opening and daily management fields. Please take a moment to read our executive summaries.
Tamara Jarrett comes to WTS with over 20 years of experience in higher education including faculty and administrative positions at Ohio University, Kent State University, and Louisiana State University (LSU). Most recently she served as Director of University Recreation and Adjunct Faculty in the Sport Management program at LSU. While at LSU, Jarrett led the development of the master plan and the construction of the sport and adventure complex, multi-million dollar renovation of the Student Recreation Complex, and implementation of comprehensive and innovative programming.
While at Kent State University, Jarrett’s award-winning leadership set new standards in service and program development toward the opening of the new recreation center. Prior to Kent State, Jarrett served on the leadership team that opened the Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center at Ohio University – ultimately serving as the director of the new facility and developing highly regarded and innovative operational strategies as well as nationally implemented standards of student development and mentoring.
Committed to the student experience in both the programmatic and academic arenas, Jarrett played a key role in developing the LSU sport management curriculum and served on the academic advisory board. She has been a faculty member at each university and taught courses in facility management, legal and ethical issues in sport, recreation administration, research methods, event planning, and communication studies.
Jarrett holds bachelor’s degrees in sport management and mass communication from Towson University. She earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Georgia Southern University. She is currently ABD toward a PhD in communication with an emphasis in organizational communication, leadership, and diffusion of innovation from Kent State University.
Jarrett has demonstrated her commitment to advancing the profession by coordinating and hosting “think tank” events such as the SEC Directors Summit and national, regional, and state level conferences and workshops. She has served on numerous boards and committees within the industry and professional associations such as the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). Jarrett worked with the Walt Disney World College Program - serving the last three years on its advisory board. Currently, she serves on the NIRSA National Research and Assessment Committee and as a member of the Foundation Board for Kernersville Parks and Recreation. She is also an accomplished public speaker and enjoys sharing her message of positivity, integrity, and unbridled commitment and enthusiasm across diverse audiences.
